Sitting too much?

If you're one of the many office workers who spend long hours sitting at a desk, you may be at risk of chronic diseases like diabetes, heart disease, and certain types of cancers.

But the good news is that you can reduce this risk by simply taking a five-minute light walk every half hour.

You don't need to walk fast - even a pace slower than your usual walking speed can help break up the sitting with some movement. Scientists don't know exactly why sitting is so bad, but they believe it has to do with the way sitting affects our muscles' ability to regulate blood sugar and cholesterol levels.

So, getting up and moving can reduce fatigue, improve mood, and benefit overall health. And if you can't move your lower body, taking deep breaths can also help.

Remember, the key is to move in as many ways as possible based on your abilities. So, take a break and get moving to feel better and reduce your risk of chronic diseases.
